Top Beaches to visit in Cozumel 2020

Updated: May 10, 2020

We've done the difficult task of visiting the most beautiful, relaxing and enjoyable beaches on the island. Here is a list of the beaches you will love!

Palancar Beach Club

Our take: Located 19 km south from town and just a few minutes before arriving to Punta Sur. This is a large, quiet and relaxing beach, perfect for escaping crowds, noisier beach clubs and pool areas. White sandy beach with no rocks and convenient access to neighboring empty beaches waiting to be explored. Cozy outdoor eating area under the shade of palm trees. Chill on a hammock or sun bed with light Caribbean sounds. Come early and enjoy this beautiful beach to yourself.

Includes: snorkeling, diving, restaurant, bar, parasailing, fishing, massage and souvenir shop.

El Cielo

Our take: If there is paradise on Earth it would be El Cielo, with its perfectly turquoise shallow waters, unique species and unusual location - 800 meters away from the land. That's why a tour to El Cielo is such a remarcable experience - you can get there by boat or catamaran only. If we could choose one place to go every day, that would definetely be El Cielo. Don't forget to add it to your wish list on your next visit to Cozumel!

Location: South end of the island (only accessible by boat)

Hours: See tour

Cost: Depending on the tour expect to pay starting from 500MX per person. Some tours may include food and drinks

Punta Sur Eco Beach Park

Sure to be the highlight of your visit to Cozumel, Punta Sur Eco Beach Park has it all. From seriously beautiful and endless sandy beaches, to Mayan ruins, a lighthouse with panoramic views of the island, boat tour on a lagoon and a watch tour over the crocodile zone. Yes, crocodiles! Located on the southernmost end of the island.

Your experience begins as you enter the beach park and take a ride onto a sandy road that runs parallel to the ocean, leading you past the lighthouse. Perfect time to park your vehicle and climb up the lighthouse to enjoy the view! Look out small concrete windows.

Eventually you will make your way towards the next road that splits between the beach and lagoon onto the beach club area, considered by most visitors and locals as one of the best beaches on the island. Turquoise waters and endless soft sandy beaches. Welcome to paradise. Don’t wait until noon to arrive here, come early and experience everything this National Reserve has to offer.

Playa Azul

Our take: It's a small cozy beach, that we adore for its simplicity and beauty. Playa Azul is known to be a great choice for snorkeling, has everything you need to enjoy the day. In comparason to other places, Playa Azul has a playground and a small pool away from water, which helps kids to have fun even on a windy day.

Good quality food, attentive staff, beautiful fountain and small hidden garden (which you may find if you take a walk) will make your beach day complete. We usually come to enjoy the view, while having refreshing cocktails next to the swimming pool, or to read a book. Located right next to Playa Azul (50 m) and especially pleasant in the mornings.

Playa Chen Rio

Our take: Located on the wild east side of the island, this beach will capture your heart with its natural beauty. On the weekends you may see local families setting up their tents, kids playing in water. Most times island surfers would come to catch the waves, which may turn to a spontanueus show for everyone on the beach. Week days Chen Rio is usually empty giving you the oppurtunuty to enjoy the beach to yourself. This would also be the best spot to watch a sunrise if you are an early bird even during your vacation.
